On a visit to Dundee and Broughty Ferry on a cold day, where I sat on my own drinking coffee for a while beside a slim and attractive young lady who kept staring in front of her and laughing, then humming a tune rather loudly, while constantly fidgeting with her interlocked fingers then looking ahead and laughing again. I did not know whether to feel glad or sad for her. There was certainly something far from normal about her, but that may be to her advantage on this grey day beside The Tay.
There is something about that dark and brooding sky...
ReplyDeleteIt surprising just how many hews of grey there actually are. I stopped myself from using the word 'shade' so my comment didn't have a double meaning!
5o Hews of Grey?
ReplyDeleteI need the sun and flowers....I do...Will spring come? Or was it cancelled for this year?
ReplyDeleteGray has no purpose whatsoever in anyone's life. Look at those aimless people on your photos. They don't have a clue where they're going, and what they're doing on your screen, and mine.
I quite like the subtleties of grey (or gray, if you insist) Claude. Those people walking on the cloud-tops you mean? Ha ha... They did not know who was watching over them.
ReplyDeleteColour will come soon, I'm sure.
In the meantime try to embrace the glory of grey... You are criticising my (remaining) hair colour, after all. You know, I have my first grey hair sellotaped into a photo album, from when I was about 35. I pulled it out of my head and grandly labelled it in the album :)
ReplyDeleteHad those people not thought of WEARING colour? Though I am partial to the soft subtleties of grey myself. And sadly had my first grey hair at fifteen.
ReplyDeletePS: Thank you for the bliss that is a word verification free blog.
ReplyDeleteDundee EC. Not the most colourful place on the planet :)
ReplyDeleteFor once I agree with you when you said, "I quite like the subtleties of grey"
ReplyDeleteI've marked this on my calendar. :)
This is very worrying Calum. In your previous comment you told me "You're right" and now here you are back again saying, "I agree with you".
ReplyDeleteI am going to have to sit down and reassess my opinions :)
I'm not trying to be difficult. It's been a long dull winter. And now I just need the sun and colourful flowers.
ReplyDeleteGray hair? I thought you were the Yul type!
You've not been looking close enough Claude. Still a fair bit of hair at the sides and quite thick at the back, but not much on top, so I keep it sheared very short all over (and the light does reflect from the crown very effectively in photos).
ReplyDeleteI really like the top two Andrew. I just do.
ReplyDeleteThanks. So do I.
