The view from Front Street in Spring 1997
The lady herself, in flowery 1996
A Tall Ship in the harbour in 1994
And time for a bite to eat in 1993
At each moment it was everything
and now it is gone
We should remember this as we remember
and as we live on

Thanks Don but especially thanks, Claude for these photos of the life and times of a Canadian madame.
ReplyDeleteI do hope I haven't described you as being a Canadian brothel-keeper. :)
Blessings , Claude.
How very retro and trendy. The CN tower looks positively regal!
ReplyDeleteClaude spent a lot of time nursing with Inuit people (if I remember correctly) in the Arctic, and I am hoping she will go further back into her time machine to send us some pics from those days.
ReplyDeleteThank you for a great presentation, dear Don.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you to all who will spend a moment looking at my past still very vivid in my heart.
Thank you Claude for sharing moments from your past :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks DQ for hosting those past memories :-)
Thank you both so much, for a window into another(s) world.
ReplyDeleteI shared this on my Facebook page. And the first thing people read is Calum's comment calling me a Canadian Madame. Great reputation I will have on FB. My phone will start ringing any minute now! :-)
ReplyDeleteHa ha. You may need to get out to the street and recruit some employees pretty damn quick Madame.
ReplyDeleteAh, the city where I was born, and spent my wasted youth. I wonder what day that 1993 photo was taken? I was getting married in Toronto on this day in that year!
ReplyDelete.. and through Don QuiScottie's silly blog the two Toronto ladies (or to follow Calum... Madames) remember a year... Interesting
ReplyDeleteMesdames?
I keep thinking of enticing book titles, without having to bother writing the books, so now I must add "Les Mesdames du Toronto" to my library. Maybe I'll have to write that one... Old(ish) Claude and young(ish) :) Knatolee plying the (claimed) oldest trade in the world on the (claimed) longest street in the world... Ah... the creative juices are rising...
Keep writing, Don QuickScottie. Knat and I can take it....If not, we know a very good lawyer to defend us. If you go and look at Knatolee last post, you'll see he even wear a skirt, when needed!
ReplyDeleteI was at The Coffee Mill (Bloor St. and Avenue Road) every week for Hungarian Goulash in 1993. Also, often, at the Royal Conservatory of Music for concerts with my students. Wish we had crossed paths, Knatolee!
ReplyDeleteMadame Knatolee in a skirt? Good God! I have waited years for this. I am heading over to her place right now!
ReplyDeleteAch Claude... That is no skirt. Beautiful though Knatolee is, Gordon is the one wearing the skirt in these photos. Nice legs Gordon, but...
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary Knatolee & Gordon.
Scottish men are strange!
ReplyDeleteThe most valid four words you may ever assemble
ReplyDeleteAnd actually I misread your comment... "he even wear a skirt..." or rather assumed it was a typo and you meant she was wearing a skirt. when it was a dress. So yes... to clear up all that confusion... Gordon was wearing a skirt, Knatolee a dress, but who "wears the trousers" in that duo eh? (Assuming the term "wears the trousers" is international and not just another Scottish quirk)
ReplyDeleteAnd I repeat, I, the Don of QuiScottie have never worn a kilt, but I have worn a skirt, and a dress... Sadly no photographs available.
ReplyDeleteAha all we now need is an interview with Lady Claude sharing her wonderful stories so she can rightly be the celebrity she deserves to be.
ReplyDeletePardon me! How careless and inappropriate of me, Madame Claude, to refer you by a dishonouring bourgeois title like that! However you could always be a ladylike madame. :)
ReplyDeleteHello Priyank. Claude's tales would be welcome guests here.
ReplyDelete... although we should be understanding if La Madame is too busy running her business...
ReplyDeleteNow Don Andrew, you can't invent any story about me now because friend Priyank knows me well. He is from Toronto, and I had the pleasure of welcoming him in my home last year.
