On the curved and narrow

About to walk across the rail bridge over the Tay at Perth

  1. That's just a little side channel to the right, by the way. The main river channel is ahead and round the corner. It is really rather fast flowing but also tidal here, so you get some wonderful swirling patterns when the tide is fighting its way inwards against the river's outward flow. May try to photograph that some day.

  2. That's an interesting shot Andrew with the curve and church spire in the distance, I like it. I would imagine that it might be a bit hairy walking there with an express train hurtling past!

  3. Is this the bridge which goes to the golf course on the island?

  4. The ones I have seen have been trundling rather slowly round that bend Craig, with the stop at the station just beyond, or having just been left, depending on direction.

That's right Calum, you need to walk the bridge to get to the golf course.

  5. Were you walking to play golf or just walking?

  6. Just walking for a bit of exercise in-between some working, but I have played the island course. It's a bit strange because you hardly ever see the water due to embankments to prevent flooding so it's a bit like playing in a deep bowl in the hills.

  7. It looks as if it might have been part of one of the old canal transport routes. A nice picture in any case.
